ANIMAL CONTROL FUNCTIONS

The Charlevoix Area Humane Society also serves as a liason for the County of Charlevoix Animal Control. In this capacity we care for all the strays, seized and surrendered animals brought to the shelter by animal control. Additionally we serve the county by redeeming animals to their owners during our open hours and selling dog licenses to pet owners.

If you have lost a pet our first advice is to call 911 and report the animal so that animal control can be notified. In many instances 911 can tell you that the pet has already been found. Once found, pets are brought to our facility and given a meal and a warm place to rest.

If the pet remains lost, we keep a log of information on the animals and check the list against any animals brought in by the public as a way of helping to reunite lost pets with their families.
